Newborn Hospital Care
Pediatric hospitalists provide routine newborn care at all local hospitals. These specially trained pediatricians will evaluate your newborn within the first day after birth. In addition, experienced nursery nurses will help care for your baby from the moment they arrive and will be available to support both infant and mother, as well as answer routine questions about feeding and newborn care. Because hospital stays are often brief and the first days with a newborn can feel overwhelming, we encourage families to keep the first few weeks at home as simple and manageable as possible, allowing time to adjust and focus on bonding with your new baby. On the day of discharge, the nursery team will advise you when your newborn should be seen in our office for their first follow-up visit, typically within one to two days. Please call our office during regular business hours, and our reception team will be happy to help you schedule your baby’s first appointment.
YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY
Regardless of where you deliver, remember to call your insurance company soon after delivery to add the baby to your policy. Generally, only a parent can make this notification. Some insurance companies allow a 30-day grace period and coverage for your baby and others do not. Please check with your plan prior to delivery so you understand what is required. You should bring or fax your insurance card to our office at the earliest opportunity.
